Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in the District of Columbia. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest law schools in the country. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools.

Because the federal government is part of the local community, the study of law at GW presents special opportunities to students interested in government service or private practice. GW law students have access to clerkships in government agencies in Washington’s many law firms.
